Now that the Lego BTS set has been unveiled, you may detect a shrieking so high it would put Little Miss Sunshine to shame. Yet, one can never be certain about anything.
All seven members of the K-pop supergroup can be seen relaxing on the set of the music video for their smash hit "Dynamite," which in 2020 garnered over 100 million views in 24 hours on YouTube. It also broke the previous record for the most comments ever made on a video posted to YouTube.
Lego replicas of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook dressed as they appear in the music video are included in this kit, which was built by two 20-year-old fans. These can be found in various pastel-colored, '70s-style locations like a burger and doughnut joint, an ice cream truck, a record store, a basketball court, and, of course, a discothèque, complete with a gargantuan DISCO sign. As an added bonus, there is a quick "behind the scenes" segment.
You can have Jungkook make a toast with donuts, V dance next to an ice cream truck, and RM, with his turquoise hair, at a record store filled with Lego "Dynamite" vinyls.
Lego indicated a BTS release on Twitter just a few days ago. BigHit and HYBE did not produce the BTS album or EP. It's part of Lego's Ideas platform, where anyone can propose an idea for a new set, and the community may weigh in on whether or not it should become a reality. The "Dynamite" set was a joint effort between Josh, a designer from Indiana, age 20, and Jacob, a BTS fan from New York, age 21. They submitted a proposal to Lego's Ideas website, and once it gained 10,000 votes, Lego accepted it.
According to Lego's press release, Jacob said, "Josh performed the building and design work, and as a great BTS fan, I instructed him what needed to be in it, what details were most crucial."
Josh, in a statement, said that Jacob was able to guide his build in the right direction because of his familiarity with BTS. I kept re-watching the music video, trying to capture its essence with Legos.
Beginning in early March 2023, fans may purchase the BTS "Dynamite" Lego set for $99.99 (£89.99 / €99.99) via the Lego website and in brick-and-mortar stores.
